The Bagz
Guitars, Screams and Widdles

Bio:

I hail from over the water, Southampton originally (burn the overner!!). I moved here with my family in 1988 at the tender age of 11. I grew up on a steady diet of disco and 70's rock. I remember my mother listening to Abba a lot and my pops listening to Queen, Dr. Hook and numerous others. I wasn't really into music as a child and I never ever envisaged that I would ever learn an instrument, let alone be in a band. I wasn't even good enough to play the triangle at school.

I am married and have four (yes, he did say four) awesome kids. It's these folk that tend to keep me busy and away from my six-stringed babies most of the time. It's hard juggling everything but they are the best thing in my life and would never be without them. My eldest daughter (aged seven) is probably Puritan Slain's biggest fan and she wants to "become a rock star, like daddy" when she grows up. Bless.

Outside of band I tend to roam the UK working as an IT consultant. That's pretty much the only grown up part of me.

One last thing is that I am left handed. Being a true I leftie I play a left handed guitars. Decent (and reasonably priced) left handed guitars are not easy to come by, but I love the ones I currently have. Lefties unite.

Influences:

I'd have to say the biggest influence for me would be the mighty Metallica. When I first heard those guys playing I thought to myself "I don't like this one bit". I know, the scandal!! But I wasn't really into metal at the time, I was more into cheesey hair-rock. Over time they grew on me and became my all time favourite band and would later inspire me to pick up the guitar and try to make sweet sweet music.

Other influences would have to be:
  • Machine Head
  • Slipknot
  • Pantera
  • In Flames
  • Megadeth

  • To name but a few.
